The Magazine

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

The Magazine welcomes submissions of poetry, fiction, essays, and comics from undergraduate writers currently enrolled in any North American post-secondary institution except Edinboro University.

For Issue 6,  in honor of Edinboro’s legacy, we have also opened submissions to our students to showcase their work before the integration of Pennsylvania  Western University.

Poetry

Submit 1-5 poems in a single .pdf, .doc, or .docx file.

Fiction + Essays

Submit one story or essay between 250 and 3,000 words in a single .pdf,  .doc, or .docx file.

Comics

Submit a graphic narrative no longer than five pages in a .pdf, .doc, or .docx file.

Submissions must be previously unpublished in print or online, including personal blogs, websites, and social media.

We evaluate submissions "blind." Do not include any identifying information in the title of the submission file or in the document itself.

In the "Cover Letter" portion of the submission form, include your name, your email address, the name of the college or university at which you are enrolled, and a biographical note no longer than fifty words.

If your work is accepted at The Magazine, you agree to grant us First North American Serial Rights, plus the right to reprint in any future anthologies. Upon publication, all rights revert to the author. You agree that if your work subsequently appears elsewhere (in print or online), you will give due credit to The Magazine as the place of first publication.

The next submission period runs from February 1, 2022 to April 15, 2022. We reserve the right to end the reading period early, depending on submission volume.
